LGIS is committed to protecting your privacy, including that of LGIS Members, participants in LGIS activities, our customers, visitors to our websites and subscribers to our newsletters. This Privacy Policy addresses your personal data and how LGIS processes and safeguards your personal data.
In your interactions with LGIS, you may choose to provide
such personal data as your name and contact details, your
professional title, affiliation and committee role, your
payment information and other information that identifies or
can identify you. The personal data that you provide will be
used only for such purposes as are described or evident at
the point of collection, for example, to respond to your
questions or comments or to help you liaise with your LGIS member.
This Privacy Policy applies to the personal data you provide LGIS in the following situations:

for which your agreement to the LGIS MEMBER DATA PROTECTION POLICY

LGIS collects personal data. In the LGIS context, "Personal Data" includes a person’s or identifiable person’s names, email addresses, physical addresses, telephone numbers and roles played that are collected and used for LGIS's Purpose (defined below). Due to the international structure of LGIS, this Personal Data is likely to be used (i.e. in a legal sense “transferred” and “processed”) in and outside the territory of USA by the LGIS INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL, LGIS Members, third parties and other individuals located in differentt countries in the world. This LGIS Member Data Protection Policy ("Policy") applies to Personal Data regardless of the country in which it is collected or used. It does not apply to the Personal Data that an LGIS member collects and uses outside of LGIS's Purpose.
As an LGIS Member, you are responsible for protecting Personal Data in accordance with this Policy even if you give access to this Personal Data to:
People within your organization, Third Parties (including sub-organizations, agents, subcontractors, etc.) outside your organisation, Others through computer interfaces.
As an LGIS Member, you must:
- ensure that the people whose Personal Data you collect and use*:
understand that LGIS and its members are bound by an LGIS Policy protecting the personal data of everyone participating in the LGIS system;
consent to their Personal Data being collected, used, shared and archived for membership and related activities; agree that their Personal Data could be transferred to countries with laws that may not guarantee the same level of data protection as in their country; and know that you and the LGIS Data Protection Officer are available to answer any questions about the content and purpose of their Personal Data.
- ensure that the people you allow to access Personal Data*:
agree to use the Personal Data they access only for the accreditation and related activities in the world with a view (i) to facilitating international exchange of goods and services and (ii) to develop cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity (LGIS's Purpose); agree to respect relevant LGIS rules and any applicable laws; and understand that they remain bound by these obligations even after their membership ends. If they don't agree to the conditions in clause 1.1 and1. 2 above you should not enter their Personal Data into LGIS IT tools (or remove it if already entered).
- collect, use, share and archive (i.e. “process”) Personal Data solely to promote and improve the development of accreditation and related activities and services in the world with a view (i) to facilitating international exchange of goods and services and (ii) to developing cooperation in the spheres of intellectual, scientific, technological and economic activity – this means that Personal Data cannot be collected and used for commercial purposes unless the person concerned has also explicitly given permission for this to LGIS or the LGIS Member;
- undertake appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect Personal Data prior to processing it, including nominating at least one person for LGIS INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL to contact regarding any data protection issues;
- immediately inform the person to whom the Personal Data relates and LGIS INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL if you cannot comply with this Policy;
- immediately inform and cooperate with LGIS in case of any accidental or unauthorised access;
- ensure that Personal Data is kept up-to-date and deleted, as appropriate, in the LGIS Global Directory and any other LGIS IT tool in which Members are required to enter Personal Data;
- fully and quickly cooperate with LGIS in fulfilling information requests by people whose Personal Data we hold and LGIS undertakes to fully and quickly cooperate with LGIS Members that receive information request;
- if you cease to be an LGIS Member, destroy any Personal Data and copies thereof to which this Policy applies and certify its destruction to LGIS in writing; and
- ensure that your employees and any third parties entering or accessing Personal Data on your behalf accept this Policy or equivalent or stricter terms. In all cases, you remain responsible for compliance with this Policy by such third parties.
- LGIS may change this Policy in consultation with its Members. Members will be informed and the changes will be posted online.
- Responsibility for the protection of Personal Data lies with LGIS Members, who are also accountable to one another. Any LGIS Member with concerns about the practices of another LGIS Member should contact that Member and inform the LGIS Data Protection Officer.
- LGIS may require LGIS Members to terminate the access of third parties in case of doubt regarding compliance with this Policy. The Secretary-General may also decide to take measures against LGIS Members that do not comply with this Policy.
- Any data protection and related laws to which LGIS Members are normally subject continue to apply. This Policy adds to, and does not replace, such laws. Where national data protection laws offer equal or stricter protection, they can override this Policy. Members are obliged to report other conflicts between this Policy and laws to which they are subject to LGIS INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS COUNCIL .
- This Policy is governed exclusively by Swiss law with the exclusion of its international private law. The exclusive place of jurisdiction shall be UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. LGIS will assist the Member with this by sending an email advising the person of this when their data is first entered in the LGIS Global Directory. If a Member wants to opt-out of this service they should contact helpdesk@lgis-authority.com

HOW TO WITHDRAW YOUR AGREEMENT TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY:
If you are a participant in LGIS accreditation activities, please contact info@lgis-authority.com to which you gave your personal data. If you are visiting LGIS’s websites, you can control your acceptance of cookies (including deleting them) by changing your browser settings (see cookies below for more details about how to control your personal data); and if you have subscriptions to LGIS Update, our newsletters, and any other subscription campaign, you can unsubscribe at any time . If required to do so by law or to respond to any legal claims, we may disclose your personal data to the relevant regulatory or legal authority. YOUR RIGHTS
In addition to understanding how LGIS processes your personal data and your right to withdraw your agreement to that processing, you can request access to, correction of and deletion of your personal data. You can also request that your personal data be provided to you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. Where the request for your personal data in said portable format requires LGIS to incur expense, you may be requested compensation. Requests for deletion will be considered in light of LGIS’s tax, auditing, contractual and other obligations under applicable laws, including in USA, as well as LGIS’s legitimate interests or business requirements in preserving past contributions to LGIS accreditation work. Your personal data is retained for specific data retention periods as determined under LGIS’s tax, auditing, contractual and other obligations under applicable laws and LGIS’s legitimate interests or business requirements, after which your personal data is deleted or anonymized.

OUR SERVICE PROVIDERS
In order to provide you the best service possible, we may transfer your personal data to our service providers that provide us back office applications for LGIS’s websites, your accounts and subscriptions, and other IT tools. These service providers are bound by contractual agreements to keep your data private and secure.
For subscriptions to LGIS Update, our newsletters, and any other subscription campaigns, we use a service provider to help us track rates of subscriber engagement within specific campaigns as well as capture engagement trends overall.
From time to time, we may ask our website visitors to answer survey questions about LGIS’s websites, our products or categories of products. Surveys will not request any personally identifiable data.

LGIS uses software to monitor its websites and IT applications for operational purposes.
